Phasing

No diagnostic finds were recovered from either of the two features. The slot could be Middle Saxon (as a number of these short slots within enclosures appear to be), but this remains interpretive.

Discussion

A slot aligned east/west and intersecting with a possible pit 012AC00368 and enclosure ditch 012AC00337. The pit was apparently cut by ditch 012AC00337 and slot 012AC00366 although neither of the  relationships were clearly visible in section. Both were filled with a sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 3/3). The extent of 012AC00368 was not defined and the feature was not recorded in plan. It is possible that the slot continued for 280 cm to the south as 012AC00331 although this was not defined during excavation.
